City of St. John's
The city of St. John’s is one of the world’s most unique and beautiful. Located on the Avalon Peninsula of the island of Newfoundland, St. John’s is North America’s oldest city. Cradled in the hills that surround St. John’s is an important seaport connected to the Atlantic Ocean by a channel called the Narrows. The population of the city proper hovers around 100,000: about one fifth of the province total.
What makes St. John’s most unique is not location or history however, but the convivial attitude and warmth of the Newfoundland people. All visitors to our province find they are greeted with affection, laughter and respect. Indeed many often become residents in short order after a visit to our province.
